The goals of military spouses are as diverse as those who exist in the community. While some spouses seek to complete degrees, others pursue certifications or licensures. Tamera Chapman changed her entire life once she set out on her fitness journey and now she is using her experience to help others get healthy.
What 3 tips would you share with military spouses to help them complete their goals?
- Connect with people with similar interests,
- Study people on YouTube/LIVE classes and take notes on what motivates you about them and their style (know what kind of leader/teacher you want to be), and
- TAKE ACTION!!!! Without this, you will never get there. Don’t be afraid, it is a lot easier than you may think
What motivated you to want to get certified?
What motivated me to get certified was that I had lost 90 lbs and wanted to prove to myself that I could lead people, so many people are hurting (mentally and physically) because they don’t take care of their bodies. I wanted the extra education that certifications have to offer and hands on experience of how I can serve people and have FUN!
Are there any resources that helped you?
The American Council on Education (ACE) has a TON of resources! The best resources for me were to meet people who did what I wanted to do and ask them how they went about it.
If you can change a life by educating yourself in a field that you love, why not do it? YOU may be all the faith they have and all they need to get started. The added bonus of pursuing a fitness certification is that health & fitness programs are needed everywhere.
What better portable career to go with a portable lifestyle than fitness!
