Military spouses, recognized for their dedication and remarkable contributions, came together for the much-anticipated 2024 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year (MSOY) week. Held from May 6th to May 10th, the AFI MSOY Week and events served as a platform to honor the exemplary service of military spouses while providing invaluable resources and fostering a sense of community.
The event kicked off on Tuesday, May 7th, as awarded military spouses embarked on a journey of team building and leadership development at the Quantico Leadership course. Simultaneously, at the Hilton Arlington National Landing Hotel, Tanya Murphy led an empowering workshop aimed at equipping participants with the tools to lead effectively.
Tuesday evening set the stage for networking opportunities and camaraderie at the welcome reception sponsored by NewRez. Attendees were greeted with excitement and anticipation for the enriching experiences that lay ahead.
Wednesday morning commenced with inspiring keynote speakers, including Elaine Swann, a renowned etiquette coach, who shared insights on personal and professional development. A panel discussion on community building, featuring Lakesha Cole, provided valuable perspectives on fostering connections within the military spouse community. Michelle Bowler of Waiting Warrior delivered a compelling message on amplifying connections and building audience engagement.
The afternoon session saw MSOY participants engaging in insightful roundtable discussions with senior leadership spouses, further strengthening bonds and exchanging ideas.
The highlight of the event was the official pinning ceremony held later in the day, where the MSOY community came together to celebrate excellence and honor outstanding achievements. The culmination of the event came on Thursday with a luncheon, during which Courtney Barber, a Space Force spouse stationed at Schriever Space Force Base, was announced as the overall 2024 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year, exemplifying the spirit of service and leadership.
The Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® Program is more than just an award; it is a testament to the resolve and dedication of military spouses worldwide. The Town Hall event serves as a curated space for connection and relationship building, offering valuable resources and fostering lifelong connections. With engaging speakers, strategic insights, and a strong sense of camaraderie, the Town Hall is an invaluable experience for all MSOY Program alumni and incoming advocates.
As the event concluded, attendees were encouraged to continue their work of empowerment and service.
