Tricare, for all its notorious shortcomings, is an outstanding and reasonably priced health insurance plan. You have a wide variety of options from which to choose, depending on your family’s needs and preferences.
Ranging from the no-cost military-care-based Tricare Prime option to the civilian-care-based Tricare Standard, with Tricare Extra sharing aspects of both the other plans, you are bound to find the plan that suits your situation.
Many young families are seduced by the idea of no out-of-pocket costs and tend to select Tricare Prime. It’s important to remember that you can opt into a different plan as your situation changes (which it will, no doubt.)
3. The Blue Angels
That’s right! Every year an estimated 11 million people get to enjoy the show… but we get to claim them!
Named after a New York nightclub (oh, those crazy Naval aviators!), the Blue Angels have been wowing crowds and assisting with recruiting efforts for well over 60 years.
If you have never had the chance to see a Blue Angels Air Show, it is definitely a sight to behold… a MUST see!

2. Our Official Music
The Navy’s official service song (Anchors Aweigh) is set to the tune of an old English drinking song. The lyrics even talk about drinking.
Um, yeah. However, the Navy hymn (Eternal Father) is majestic, inspiring and rarely leaves a dry eye among a Navy congregation or crowd. (Whenever I see it listed on the hymnal board at church, I know it’s time to pull out a tissue for my husband!)
1. Falling in love, again, and again, and again!
Routine deployments mean repeated honeymoon periods. Absence can truly make the heart grow fonder.
There are bound to be transition concerns and issues that arise when your spouse returns home and you have been handling everything on your own, as you see fit, for months (and months, and months).
Despite the challenges, for most Navy couples, the opportunity to fall in love all over again even just a little, helps keep their relationship fresh and strong.
BONUS –
And I think we should add one more for good measure. The Marines? Yeah – they’re with us! When the Navy has personnel, vessels or other assets that require the highest level of professional, foolproof, protection, who ya’ gonna call? That’s right – the USMC! The Navy deeply appreciates her USMC colleagues (and their marine corps spouses!)
Without them, we’d have the Good Humor Man guarding our gates . . . Chipwich, anyone?
