Not to mention the ability for military organizations and nonprofits that support the community by hosting an array of events, workshops, conferences and celebrations to spread their message and bring awareness to their cause. The MilCam allows organizations to have a customized filters created for them to have a platform for sharing those events via social media.
When asked about the thought of creating a filter of this magnitude, Moni, the creator of the MilCam said:
“I’m so excited about this app! I grew up as an Army kid and now an Air Force spouse, I know the journey of this life.
I noticed that the military community did not have a voice on social media. There are filters for everything and everyone else but nothing representing our lives, our events, our holidays and our specific roles. Having an app like this for our community is so needed.
Especially in the times we are living in right now, showing our support for families and troops by sharing and using filters encourages us to stay connected and patriotic. We did not not have anything that spoke to our military lifestyle and now we do; that is exactly what the MilCam filter app does.”
In the spirit of community, a portion of the proceeds from the downloads goes to a military nonprofit every month. May and June donations were for Military Spouse Advocacy Network, a nonprofit that promotes Strong Spouses, Stronger Families.
