In December 2013, at the request of the Department of Defense, the Congress passed, and the President signed a bill that cut $80,000 from the retirement value of your typical active duty enlisted servicemember.  

The military was recently told, ‘we need a union.’  The military responded with, ‘we have a union…it’s called the American public.’

And, in an interesting twist, the following video is of Secretary of Defense Panetta and Chairlman of hte Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dempsey in October 2011 on Military Retirements.
