In May of this year we spoke of the trending micro wedding that is surging the nation. For military families, this has been part of our traditions for generations. To continue this celebration, Moving With The Military decided to add a micro wedding to the list of home makeovers they do for military families.

Over 400 military families from around the globe entered the contest. The entries and stories made the team giggle, cry tears of joy, and hearts to break over the struggles that so many in our community face. Picking a family seemed impossible but with The Today Show’s help we were able to announce the lucky winner.

As we read through Riedar’s story and how this teenager felt about his mother’s boyfriend, our hearts were touched. Growing up without a father, Riedar always felt the longing of a positive male influence in his life, not for himself alone but for his younger sister, Mitzi as well. When Sarah introduced both of her kids to Adam, the kids were excited to see their mother interested in someone. Both Sarah and Adam wanted to take their time and proceed with caution. With Adam deployed, they felt like allowing the kids to get to know him over the internet would be safe and permit everyone time as they got to know one another.

Sarah and Adam nervously met online. Talking privately for months, they enjoyed each others sense of humor and conversation. Adam loved what a great single mother Sarah was to her children. Sarah enjoyed the servant heart Adam had toward others and his country. They both felt like it was a match made in heaven.

Adam and Riedar would talk online about weight-lifting and life as a soldier. Adam would help Mitzi with her homework and the whole family would laugh at the daily mishaps. From afar the connection with Adam seemed to be perfect for the entire family.

When the time came for Adam to meet everyone in person, they all realized the bond between each of them was strong. Riedar was thrilled to have the father figure he had always wanted and Mitzi was overjoyed to have her “army man” around. And Sarah was delighted to have someone in their life that cherished each of them. Adam and Sarah’s love isn’t a love between two people, it’s a love between four.

Moving With The Military is pleased to announce Adam and Sarah will be saying their nuptials this November. They are the winners of the micro wedding contest. Every week leading up to November 10th, we’ll be sharing a little more about this couple and the family as well as having America help us design the wedding.

Sarah has agreed to let each of you pick her wedding dress, shoes, and more. She shared with our team that she has always envisioned her wedding colors as navy blue and gold. She is elated to have an outdoor wedding. She wants her son, Riedar, to walk her down the aisle and her daughter to be her flower girl. Yet there are still so many other decisions to be made for this wedding.

Come along with us as we celebrate. Join us here at Military Spouse every week to learn more about Sarah, Adam, Riedar, and Mitzi. If you want to vote, visit Moving With The Military‘s social media every week and get involved!
