Sometimes We Are Just Not Okay…and That’s Okay

But.

There’s a small, overlooked word in society today. A word none too prevalent when trouble and sorrow seep into the doorways of our home and minds and set up premises within. When grief overwhelms us and it feels as if the entirety of our worlds crash down upon us, there is a light in the distance. A glimmering, faint light in the bleak darkness –but one that is a guiding beacon, drawing lost, roaming passengers into a harbor of safety.

Hope.

There is always, ALWAYS hope. Hope in a happier future, in safety, in joy. Hope is the light that we need to fill our hearts and souls again. At first, the light of hope may be dim and too far to reach. But you keep walking and trying and searching. Prominent public speaker Jeffrey R. Holland said, “If for a while the harder you try, the harder it gets, take heart. So it has been with the best people who ever lived.”

There is always hope, and there is always help. Whether you need a new exercise routine, a journaling session, a night out with a friend, or a cookie (or an accredited therapist as I did), there is always, ALWAYS help.

Help will come if you seek it. If you ask for it. If you speak up and say, “Hey, I’m not okay. I’m lost. I need some help. I need to restart.”

Help will come. It will come in the form of trusted friends and advisors and as a handy bottle of emotional superglue to start piecing you together again.

There’s no shame in help or hope. Coupled with the light of hope in your journey, you CAN make it through dark, troubling times and find safety and happiness in your voyage. Cling to the life raft until you can feel the embracing power of hope and help.

So, sometimes, we’re not okay. And that’s okay.

Take heart. We are here for you.
