Jennifer Mullen

Duty Station: USCG District 1, Boston, MA

Years being a military spouse: 8

Tell us a little bit about you! After eight years of marriage and ten years of being together we have been stationed throughout the Northeast on two cutters, (deploying 10 times) and on two land units.

While holding down the home front, I have worked full-time and earned my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Centenary College, and with our two children in tow my Masters of Science in Project Management from Boston University. I now work full-time as an IT Project Manager for a Telecommunications company

I have volunteered through the Junior League of Boston, a non-profit organization focusing on helping women and children in the Boston area. I also enjoy running and was training to run the 2015 Boston Marathon raising $8,000 for Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Outside of my family and focusing on others, I am writing a Children’s book for our Coastie Kids. The book is to help preschool and elementary children understand the struggles of change and Coast Guard Deployments.

What is one thing you would want to accomplish with the MSOY title? I would work to bring access points of information to Coast Guard families and communicate ways to assist with bringing our Coastie Kids together to help them through missions, deployments and consistent changes.
Our children are astoundingly resilient, but helping them understand at their level what is happening would lift the load off the Spouse.
