MINImoons: What to Do When the Honeymoon Hasn’t Happened

So what’s a MINImoon? It’s taking a day or two where you can get it!

For us that usually means finding out when one of our moms is coming to visit, and charmingly asking them if we can use one of those days to go to a hotel or drive a city over and feel like carefree adults. Man I love them, because they always say, “YES, GO! HAVE FUN!” But you can imagine how often that happens being that we haven’t lived on the same coast in seven years.
Here are three of our favorite MINImoons that we’ve enjoyed:

1) SAN DIEGO BAY HOUSE RENTAL

This one falls under “staycation.” You know…that made up word that makes you feel like you’re really doing something exotic, but you’re actually just 5 miles from your humble abode? We enjoyed a couple days renting this house with another married couple that we’re friends with. The schedule was filled with a small yacht, horseback riding and nice restaurants.

Just us! Chillin’ in the bay.

2) LA DAY TRIP

No sleepover fun on this trip, but hanging with my guy on Sunset Strip in Hollywood was good times. We enjoyed the wax museum and taking pics with the stars! Plus some yummy lunch.

Yep! I gave Patrick Swayze a dance.
Was it something he said?

3) Vegas Baby!

This one was a bit hard for me because we still had to plan it around his off time. Since most of his coworkers had already put in for holiday time off WAY early in the year, it left us scrounging for a free day when we found out his parents were visiting. We left on Christmas Day. I wasn’t willing to sacrifice seeing our munchkins opening gifts that morning, so we left in the afternoon and enjoyed Vegas for a couple days.

The hotel was beautiful and the shows were mind blowing. I even got pulled on stage and spent about 10 minutes up there with the Blue Man Group (whaaaaatttt)! But two days wasn’t nearly enough. Especially when half of that time is spent traveling. But like I said, you take it where you can get it.

After the Blue Man Group show

I’m going to drop a HARD HINT right here and tell my man I want a HONEYmoon by our 10th anniversary. Make that happ’n capp’n! ‘Til then, MINImoons it is!

So tell me TWO things…

1. If you missed having a honeymoon, what was the reason? Finances, time, kids, deployment?
2. What type of MINImoons have you and your spouse enjoyed? Give us some DOPE ideas that we can try!
