Because You Deserve Change and Happiness Any Time of Year!
Waiting until January 1 to make a needed change, whether it’s spiritual, physical, or relational, is not kind to you. A couple of years ago, I visited some friends over spring break and viewed the photos after the trip with a little bit of horror. I didn’t recognize the puffy faced, unhappy person I’d become. As I’d already been feeling the need to make some drastic changes and the photos only confirmed what I knew inside, I began my first stumbling beginnings into running a couple of days later.
I didn’t wait until a Monday, a new year, or any other magic moment. I just did it (hello, Nike), and by December of that year had run my first 10K, dropped 30 pounds, and felt better than I had in a decade.
My point? Goals are not bad, obviously.
But you deserve your best self, your best circumstances, your best future NOW, not just on January 1st. Of course, these are my reasons. If you find yourself embracing a new beginning as 2017 unfolds, more power to you!
But remember, you are worth setting into motion plans, goals, and dreams any time of the year. If it happens to coincide with January 1, then great. But don’t wait for an artificial date to reach for what you deserve… right at this moment.
