The year my husband deployed for the holidays was so exceptionally hard for me and I spent a lot of time feeling really sorry for myself. Sorry that I was having to spend our anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's Day without him. Sorry that he wasn't there to do some of our holiday traditions. Sorry that I couldn't get myself into the holiday spirit. ?⁠ ⁠ And then I took a hot second and remembered that my husband also wasn't getting a normal holiday season. He was away from home and family and likely missing both of those things immensely. ⁠ ⁠ Yes, being at home during deployment is hard, but so is actually being deployed!
