This Military Appreciation Month will be much different than years past where businesses nationwide celebrate the Armed Forces with special discounts and freebies. May 1-31st, 2020 is National Military Appreciation Month. Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members – past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.

Observed: Friday, May 8th, 2020, traditionally set for the Friday before Mother’s Day. Many United States citizens take this day to acknowledge the significant contributions, support, and sacrifices of spouses of the Armed Forces.
Armed Forces Day
Observed: Saturday, May 16th, 2020, Celebrated the third Saturday in May every year. Armed Forces Day is a holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. This day honors everyone serving in the U.S. Military branches; Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy.
Memorial Day
Observed: Monday, May 25th, 2020, A Federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May. Memorial Day is a day for remembering the people who died while serving in the country’s Armed Forces.
