The Power of Personal Growth: Thinking Big to Create a Ripple of Giving Back

When it comes to giving back, many of us believe that small acts of kindness and volunteering are the only ways to make a difference. However, I invite you to consider a different perspective—one that encompasses personal growth and thinking bigger. Let’s explore expanding our horizons, starting or growing a business that gives back, and serving as role models and leaders in our communities. By exploring what’s beyond our comfort zones we quickly learn we have the power to create a ripple effect–you can literally impact countless lives.

Let’s take fellow military spouse Nina Olander for example. She’s a military spouse realtor in Virginia Beach where she collects washers and dryers to give to military families that need these major appliances when they close on a home. She also supports military non-profit organizations by donating annually–offering financial assistance to charities that are then able to support many more through their missions.

The desire to give more has only grown as her business has grown. Known as someone that gives back, she’s now empowering her team to also follow suit. Last year her team members took part in the giving and were able to pick charities for donations. “Giving is a part of who I am.” says Nina who is planning to embark on a mission trip later this year. She hopes this mission trip will not only make a direct impact with those she will be serving, she also hopes that by sharing her story online others will be inspired to take action creating a ripple effect of impact.

Nina is just one example of a military spouse thinking bigger. There are countless other stories just like Nina’s where military spouses have dreamt the impossible and devised a plan to turn those dreams into reality.

We often underestimate the power of our own potential. It’s time to break free from limitations and embrace the concept of thinking big. When we dare to dream and set ambitious goals, we unlock untapped creativity and motivation. Don’t settle for small aspirations; instead, envision the impossible and let it fuel your drive to give back on a grand scale.

You don’t have to create a business to create change–leading by example is a powerful way to inspire and influence others. When you embrace a giving-back mindset in your personal and professional life, you become a beacon of hope and inspiration for those around you. By modeling the importance of giving back, you encourage others to join you in making a difference. Remember, your actions have the potential to create a ripple effect that extends far beyond what you can imagine.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to take action. Start by sharing your idea or goal with someone. Sharing with others can have a profound effect on your ability to achieve them. According to a study conducted by Dr. Gail Matthews at Dominican University, people are 42% more likely to achieve their goals when they write them down and share them with someone else. By publicly declaring your aspirations, you invite accountability and support from your community, increasing your chances of success.

If you’re not ready to share your goals with someone you know, I invite you to share them with me. Find me on Instagram at @lindsey_litton and DM me your goal. Remember by sharing your aspirations, you’ll not only inspire others but also open yourself up to a network of support and encouragement.
